Today’s earth-consciousness combines the poetry of John Muir with the acumen of Rachel Carson.

The Hatherleigh Foundation seeks to foster this kind of dual thinking about environmental issues. The Hatherleigh Foundation promotes projects that advocate earth-friendly practices (clean water initiatives; the preservation of opens spaces; animal rights) while linking those practices very directly to everyday living (such as school programs, experiential educational opportunities like Outward Bound, and general public awareness). 

The Hatherleigh Foundation maintains that environmental action, to be truly significant and lasting, must also lead to positive change.
